Geothermal Energy

One of the greener energy methods available to us these days is Geothermal energy, and we want to help you get on the fast track to becoming an Accredited Geothermal Installer! We have a variety of courses listed below that will aid you in getting prepared for this rising star in the green energy field.

Accredited Geothermal Installer Certification

3-Day Live Course

This course is a three day comprehensive course focused on the installation of geothermal heating and cooling systems. The course includes an open book exam to become an accredited geothermal installer. Geothermal businesses need all sorts of people, so the course is set up to accommodate that. If you have little to no background in a comparably skilled building trade but are interested in joining the industry, you might consider taking one of our beginner online trainings in advance of this classroom training.

Standing Column Well Geothermal Systems

3-Day Live Course

Learn about standing column wells from the industry's expert. This geothermal design course will address the fundamentals of what makes the Standing Column Well (SCW) different and compelling as a geothermal HVAC solution. It will investigate a number of SCW design applications, and review the key thermal and hydro-geological bases for good performance.

Geothermal Training GPTC Accredited Geothermal Installer Certification is a 3-day, comprehensive course focused on the installation of geothermal heating and cooling systems. Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) are electrically powered systems that tap the energy stored under the Earth's surface. These systems use the earth's relatively constant temperature to provide heating, cooling and hot water for both residential and commercial buildings, cutting energy consumption by 20-50% while reducing overall maintenance costs. The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have both endorsed GSHP systems as among the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly heating, cooling, and water heating systems available, reducing overall energy use while delivering comfort, reliability and marked savings for homeowners. For residential structures of any size, whether single- or multi-family, GSHP systems can be installed under lawns, beneath landscaping, under driveways or under the house, itself, almost always using the ductwork that's already there. This course is instrumental for HVAC contractors, drillers, builders, plumbers, pipefitters and engineers to gain a basic understanding of geothermal technology as it applies to residential structures. With new government incentives and subsidies available, geothermal installation is becoming more and more affordable every day. Though this technique has been around for a number of years, the application of new technology and software have made it even easier. Trainees will learn the fundamentals of geothermal installation for green buildings as well as existing structures, focusing on system selection, ground heat exchange design and installation techniques. Available Courses Accredited Geothermal Installer Certification 3 days of expert instruction, open-book exam required for IGSHPA Accredited Geothermal Installer status, 1-year IGSHPA membership & pipe fusion certification.
