About Us
You want to join the Green Revolution. The Green Professional Training Center is here to help. We offer training sessions and certification programs to equip you with the tools needed to position yourself at the forefront of the green movement. Whether you strive to be a solar energy and photovoltaic specialist, a green building professional or something else, our mission is to prepare you for a green-collar career, while promoting America's clean energy future.
We created the Green Professional Training Center to assist individuals, like yourself, who are interested in joining the movement but don't know where to turn. You can turn to us. Two years ago, we assembled together a group of LEED Accredited Professionals, project managers and building scientists to pool their collective experience and educational background into training programs designed for your benefit. That's how our training center was born.
We hope to make sustainable building practices and energy efficiency as common as installing drywall. We understand, however, that the green-construction industry requires a higher degree of training and, usually, specific certification requirements must be met. We offer training in a variety of fields, including hazardous-waste operations, green building, solar and wind power installation, OSHA safety training, thermal imagining, weatherization and building performance.
You dream of going green. We can help. One lesson at a time.
Dr. Dudley Burton - Director
Dr. Dudley Burton, Ph. D., P. E., is Professor and Chair of the Environmental Studies Department at California State University, Sacramento since 2002. He has worked almost 40 years in the environmental field, starting with analysis of the assumptions and implications of Limits to Growth in 1972 as part of a Ph. D. program at UC Berkeley. He has taught, researched, published, consulted, and advocated for improvements in topics as diverse—yet interrelated—as energy policy, wastewater treatment, sustainable agriculture, appropriate technology initiatives, and international development policy. His books include The Governance of Energy (1980), The Role of the University in Appropriate Technology Development (Ed, 1981), and Treatment of hazardous Petrochemical and Petroleum Wastes (1989). He has held faculty positions at UC Santa Cruz, Brown University, Baylor University, and CSUS. The recent social interest in "greening" the economy and achieving "sustainability" support efforts that environmental students, faculty, and citizen activists have been advocating from the beginning of the discipline in the early 1970s. Training of students, professionals, and citizens—with a strong dose of critical thinking—has been at the heart of Dr. Burton's entire professional career.
