Building Performance Institute Education Program (BPI) The GPTC is a leader in the environmental education and consulting industry. Our mission is to promote green building practices by offering world-class training and test preparatory services to professionals serving the green building industry. Conducted by leading accredited professionals, training and preparatory classes are in depth, comprehensive and designed to prepare individuals and organizations for success! The BPI Building Analyst course teaches the basic principles of building science to assess energy efficiency in a home while also monitoring conditions that have a direct impact on health and safety. BPI Standards emphasize the 'house-as-a-system' approach to home inspection, recognizing that all systems are interconnected from the HVAC equipment, to the envelope, the foundation, walls, roof, doors and windows. Students learn how to use diagnostic equipment like blower doors and combustion analyzers to ensure systems function properly together to maximize home performance, comfort, energy efficiency, safety and durability. An energy auditor with BPI certification meets the national standards of the Building Performance Institute having passed both a written and a hands-on field exam as part of the course.
